Amsoi is a beautiful place situated in Assam province of India.The place is situated in west and southern side of Nagaon district And distance from Guwahati city to Amsoi 70 km. & from Nagaon town 45 km.in the middle side of Shilchang and Dharamtul. There is a forest road by which one can come to Amsoi east side of 37the National Highway, these knows Khalahat Reserve Forest and9 K.M.long one way road by which one can reach beautiful places of Amsoi;like Gagara, Amjuri, Moukhuli, Thakurbosti, Barogoge, Beltola, Kalinagar, Amsoi village,Burahraja Gaon,Balikuchi, Garogaon, Gaspara, Dalimbari ,etc.Grater Amsoi situated in southern bank of Kapili river and thirty villages in these area. Amsoi is a border area of Karbi Anglong ,through many people of Amsoi from Tiwa tribes here also living Karbi ,Kuch , Rabha, Bengali ,Garo ,Tea tribes , Nepali , Nath(Krawna Jugi)etc. Each Caste living with co-operation of other caste and trying to go ahead in progress.

Though modern education till has not able to touch everyone in Amsoi, few educated people of Amsoi trying to practice lactureture .They published their writings in many News paper and magazines’ in Assam , few writer also published book in Assamese and Tiwa language. A branch of Asom Sahitya Sabha (A Assamese leatretury   organization) and  Tiwa Mathanlai Tokhra (Tiwa leatreture organization) also in Amsoi area. There are many cultural organization in the villages. They display their performance in different festivals in Amsoi and outside of Amsoi area. One can enjoy Bihu ,Tiwa ,Karbi ,Jhumur,Nepali etc. dances though these cultural organizations. In ancient time Amsoi area was a part of Sahari Tiwa kingdom. In present time Tiwa Kingdom is not in power, the Tiwa people of this area is still maintaining their Tiwa kingdom memory  through “RAJA MELA” at Sahari in the month of Assamese new year “BAHAG”(April). In this “RAJA MELA” people displays their respect as per rules of Tiwa present acting King of Sahari. On that day acting kind of Sahari Kingdom openly calls a sitting of his parliament as per rules and regulations of ancient time. This is also a regular part of Sahari Tiwa “RAJA MEAL”. Some of the tribal peoples cultivates their “Jhum  Kheti” in the hill area . And for protection of their “Jhum Kheti” from the wild animals like elephant, Monkey and the tribal people creates a small house in the branches of tree nearly to “Jhum Kheti”. Thishouses is known as “Tongi Ghar”. This “Tongi Ghar” draws attraction of tourists who want enjoy the natural beauty of Amsoi. The house of “Tongi Ghar” used a hand make musical instrument known as “Tong Tarang” to protect their cultivation from wild animals. They used bamboo to make “Tong Tarang” musical instrument. Bamboo made “Tong Tarang” is an invention of musical instruments of tribal peoples of the north east part of India. In “Tingi Ghar” the tribal people used “Tong Tarang” to protect their “Jhum” cultivation of harvest from the wild animals and birds.

Sometimes you can listen group roaring of people and “Tong” “Tong” sound of “Tong Tarang” at night. Local people knows that this kinds of roaring  and sound of “Tong Tarang” forecast that wild elephant has entered in the villages in search of food. The people of other villages  came to alert and make group to protect the village from the wild elephant . Several people of Amsoi has affected by wild elephant till now. Wild elephant has taken lives of several people. Many has lost their houses. Though this kind of force and dangers in Amsoi, Who  has taken birth in Amsoi a better place then heaven . Southern part of Amsoi you can see green forests and a range of blue hills. White color of rock in “SIVA KUNDA” hills calls the travelers  from distance. Snake like roads of Amsoi area want to talk the olden history of Amsoi. If you came to Amsoi, you can listen the tock story of bank of Kapili river(A small river known as Kapili which was gone through the north side of Amsoi area). The economical condition of the people of Amsoi is not so well. Though they has in such a condition,they have not come back to welcome to guests. Oh guests ! If you want to visit Amsoi, You will be welcome with “guard of honour” by the many kinds of forest trees.
